  1. I enjoyed your site on Snow White because my group did Snow White as well. While examining your site, I recognized even more information than I found on Snow White myself which was interesting. I enjoyed the post where Meyer’s in an interview states, “After all, why shouldn’t Snow White be a woman of color? Or any other princess, for that matter? There’s absolutely no reason, and I think it’s good to challenge people’s preconceptions sometimes, and be challenged myself” (Meyers, 2015). Snow White’s pale skin is a major factor in the novels and movies, therefore, creating this racial perspective. Many colored women will take offense to this and other Disney princesses. There are many nationalities and skin colors, therefore, there needs to be a variety of perspectives.

  2. I really really enjoyed your site. I think you guys did a really good job analyzing different interperations of Snow White retellings like Snow White and the Huntsmen. I particularly like the post that analyzes the movie poster with Snow and the dagger. You’re analysis of the poster was spot on such that I didn’t even notice the dagger in her hand but noticed her beauty and the background. I also like the post relating to the mirror on the wall and how it reflects our patriarchal society we live in. Something that I didn’t realize before reading your post. A lot of your posts opened my eyes to different ideas about Snow and the story behind her.

  3. I am not particularly familiar with the tale of Snow White, so I found your website to be extremely informative and eyeopening in many ways. I was particularly interested in the concept of the mirror being representative of today’s society, such that it offers criticism and unrealistic or seemingly unattainable beauty standards. Your analysis of this concept made me question further the different ways that fairy tales can be symbols of todays society in ways that I had not before. I was also surprised to learn, through one of the historical posts, that the Grimm Brothers removed an extremely graphic aspect of the original tale, the iron shoes, being that they traditionally incorporated violent scenes while excluding aspects of tales that suggested premarital sex or incest from their revisions.
